ANCIENT & MODERN

Members and directors of Moor Park Golf Club are now enjoying better hospitality in their Grade 1 Listed Club House - thanks to Rainbird. As main contractor we carried out the complete renovation of the kitchens, including the installation of new equipment and associated works, to the value of £300,000. Starting in January 1998 and finishing on time in a contract period of 11 weeks continuous, this contract is an example of the repeat business which Rainbird seek, having completely renovated the changing room at the Club some three years ago.

Rainbird Group was responsible for the design, management and construction of the Visitors Centre at Bradwell Power Station in Essex, fitted with state of the art audio visual techniques, helping thousands of people to better understand the finer points of Nuclear Power Generation.

Because of its use of high technology equipment, the Centre involved particular design and construction skills, with security as an important added element. Providing a complete service with access to established consultants with specialist capabilities, the company won the contract against stiff competition with a highly economical and effective design.

The Visitor Centre has been open for three years and was by no means the first contract carried out for BNFL Magnox. Currently the Group are on site working in the restricted and sensitive areas of the Reactor Building upgrading the fire protection. Another example of repeat business for a long standing customer.

DOMESTIC & COMMERCIAL

Rainbird have played their part in the social housing programme and recently completed 35 houses for Springboard Housing Association in Takeley, Essex. This design and build contract was offered as a complete package, including all the services, infrastructure and a pumping station. The contract was worth £1.3m and was completed on time and to budget.

Care Homes Ltd have recently occupied a 60 bed Nursing Home at Thorley near Bishop’s Stortford built by Rainbird. The value of this project was £1.3m, again a design and construct contract finished to time and on budget.

The Governors of Howe Green School at Great Hallingbury in Essex decided to build a new School Hall, Rainbird won the contract in strong competition. This time the contract entered into was conventional, with the client having his own Architect, Quantity Surveyor and Engineer. Again we completed this interesting building - it was built round a laminated timber frame - on time and to budget.
